Hello, it’s been some time!
Thank you for signing up for updates on the Gospel Oak and Haverstock Community Vision planning guidance and many thanks to those of you who responded.
Following the second stage of consultation which finished earlier this year, in total we had over 250 respondents to the questions asked and to the interactive map with over 600 contributions being made through this platform. Further responses were also received by email and through exhibitions and surveys.
We have used the feedback received to revise the planning guidance which the Council proposes to adopt as a Supplementary Planning Document on 4th November 2022.

The Regeneration and Place Team
London Borough of Camden
Camden Council is developing a Community Vision for Gospel Oak and Haverstock - a planning framework that will help to define a vision for the future of the neighbourhood and support its regeneration. To make sure those changes reflect the wishes of local people, make:good was commissioned to lead community engagement around the development of the Community Vision, involving local residents, businesses, workers, community groups and all other stakeholders who have an interest in the area.
Stage 1 of our programme of engagement ran between October 2020 and July 2021. The earlier months of engagement were almost exclusively online due to Government restrictions around the pandemic, but targeted and effective measures were taken in the latter part of Stage 1 to offer a wider range of ways for people to have their say.
The team have been on guided walks around Gospel Oak and Haverstock with members of key community groups and local residents. Once they were again permitted under Government guidelines, workshops were also arranged in the local community.
Despite a difficult year we heard from 460 residents via the survey and over 200 residents in person on a range of matters of importance for future change in the area.
We have collated all our findings in the Stage 1 report which you can find here .
As part of the Council’s Safer and Healthier Streets programme, we are proposing to make changes on Queen's Crescent in order to trial a motor traffic free environment, to reduce traffic volumes and speeds, support the street market and businesses, and to make more space for social distancing, walking and cycling. Designs have been developed alongside key stakeholders to include new disabled bays and to ensure that access for emergency services is maintained.
The main changes proposed are:
We will be holding an interactive online meeting where you can hear more about the scheme and ask your questions. Please visit the consultation website to sign up for the meeting and submit your questions.
If a decision to move ahead with the trial is taken, we would look to test different uses within the motor traffic free such as an expanded street market, planting or parklets during the trial period alongside community groups. Such a trial would be used to test whether such measures should be combined and delivered permanently alongside the plans already developed for public realm improvements.
In the first six weeks since launching the community survey we have already seen a fantastic level of response, with over 300 people from the neighbourhood taking the time to tell us what matters most to them.
However, rather than close the survey for comment this week as planned, we have decided to keep it running for a further four weeks to give as many people as possible the chance to have their say at this early stage in the process, before drafting of the Community Vision itself begins.
The survey will now remain open until the 11th January. After which point we will be preparing and publishing the findings from the feedback collected so far.
You can access the survey here. You can help us to reach much of the community as possible by sharing this link with your friends and local groups. As always, we would be happy to provide paper versions for completion (email: GOHVision@camden.gov.uk)
In addition to the current survey, there will still be further opportunities to have your say in the new year once a draft version of the Community Vision has been prepared.
Dear resident,
Help us shape a Community Vision for the future of Gospel Oak and Haverstock
Last week, Camden Council relaunched its main Commonplace page for this project as well as a new questionnaire to capture feedback on a range of key topics. We are gathering initial feedback until 14th December 2020 that will then be used to form a draft document. The engagement is open to local residents, businesses, workers, community groups and anyone else who has an interest in the area.
You can give your feedback by completing our short survey at:
bit.ly/gohvisionor visit the main project page to find more information and other ways to have your say.
We will be writing to notify all households in the area but you can also help us reach as many people as possible by telling your friends and neighbours, or the local groups you may be a member of, about this questionnaire or by sending them a copy of the autumn Community Vision leaflet (A5)
If you require translation services, cannot access content online or would like to request a paper copies please email us at GOHVision@camden.gov.uk or give us a call on 0203 735 7629 and we can either take you through the questions by phone or arrange for printed versions to be sent to you by post.
Regards
