As part of the Council’s Safer and Healthier Streets programme, we are proposing to make changes on Queen's Crescent in order to trial a motor traffic free environment, to reduce traffic volumes and speeds, support the street market and businesses, and to make more space for social distancing, walking and cycling. Designs have been developed alongside key stakeholders to include new disabled bays and to ensure that access for emergency services is maintained.

If a decision to move ahead with the trial is taken, we would look to test different uses within the motor traffic free such as an expanded street market, planting or parklets during the trial period alongside community groups. Such a trial would be used to test whether such measures should be combined and delivered permanently alongside the plans already developed for public realm improvements.
